Diabetes UK organised local group meetings for diabetics in Bristol.

I am glad to add any diabetes related event or meeting here or a link to a site with them on. That includes local (in or near Bristol) commercial events. Use the feedback page by e-mail or form to do this.

Due to rising costs, Diabetes UK will be asking for a donation of £1 per person at each event to help cover the cost of hiring the venue, drinks, etc.

Filton Meetings

Filton Folk Centre: map and directions, Elm Park, Filton BS34 7PS.

All Meetings on Thursdays at 7:30-9:00 pm.

  • 14th February 2008. Diabetes Specialist Dietician. Kathey Grove will talk on how to eat heathily.
  • 12th June 2008 - Maria Macipe. Associate Specialist. Maria will talk on eye problems.
  • 9th October 2008 - Colin Dayan MA FRCP PhD. New tratments, including Byetta and Januvia.

Whitchurch Meetings

Whitchurch Community Centre: map, Whitchurch Community Centre, Wells Road (A37).

All Meetings 7:30-9:00 pm on Thursdays.

  • 10th April 2008 - Dr Richard Smith. Richard answer any questions on Diabetes and update us on the Islet transplant program.
  • Thursday 14th Augest 2008 - Professor Edwin Gale. Open forum Edwin will answer any questions.
  • 11th December 2008. A representative of the DVLA will talk on driving in later life, and when taking medication.
